He's on his way!

Brando is now on his way across the country en route to snowy Virginia! He and his dad left Monday morning and have encountered some (not wholly unexpected) winter weather conditions, causing them to detour from I-40 down to I-10. As they skirt the far south of the US, they stopped somewhere in Texas for a yummy waffle breakfast. Hopefully I can get Brando to blog about his cross-country adventure after he finally arrives sometime tomorrow or Saturday.

Don't call it a "Belgium" waffle in Texas, if you know what's good for you. This is America, dammit!

On my end, winter has certainly come to NOVA (northern Virginia) with snow and ice-laden sidewalks to make my 1-mile hike to the metro every morning that much more interesting. One benefit of the walk, though, is my daily enjoyment of the sunrise, made all the more beautiful by the crisp air and crunch of snow beneath my boots.

Before the holidays, I moved to our new/permanent townhouse in Fairfax. Arlington was too urban for us and we want the space and trees and quiet (yes, I know we sound OLD). Next week the furniture arrives and I can finally sleep on my bed instead of this silly old air mattress!

  1. So I'm thinking since you are both there now that we are all due for an update :)
